Cal Thru Hulls

Monday, October 30, 2006

All the thru hulls and valves on the Cal were replaced. I don't have any pictures handy but I'll try to find some later on. The thru hulls didn't have to be replaced necessarily, but on any vessel of this age a basic refit is a good idea. Thru hulls may look ok, but later on may suddenly break off due to weakening over time and a form of corrosion. The general rule is if the threads look pink on a thru hull after removing the valve, it should be replaced. If nothing else, the cal is for sure good under water and everyone can feel a little more assured of always waking up to a dry boat.
